Darkworlders ("Creepers" in the map files) are a type of humanoid in Cruelty Squad. They are characterized by their pitch black skin and clothes and their glowing red eyes and smiles. Notably, hostile Darkworld Grunts emit a faint, roaring sound when alerted. They seem to reside primarily in Darkworld, but many can be found throughout the missions on Hope Eradicated mode.
Darkworlders are also part of the opposition present in the catacombs of Paradise.
Variants[]
Darkworld Civilian[]
Darkworld Civilians are characterized by their pitch black bodies and clothes, their glowing red smiles, and their cryptic yet stupid dialogue.
Darkworld Grunt[]
Permeating Darkworld and seeping in through the cracks of other missions, especially on Hope Eradicated mode, Darkworld Grunts are fast, responsive, and accurate foes whose natural camouflage makes them appear to be a shadow on the wall before it's too late.
Darkworld Grunts are all pitch black except for their red, catlike eyes which glow against their dark faces.
In Darkworld, they are almost ubiquitous. Because of their ability to quickly devastate the player and their crowded numbers, it is difficult to approach with bold, aggressive tactics.
However, throughout their guest appearances in Hope Eradicated mode they are mostly spread out, hidden where a player who is otherwise experienced with the mission would feel safe.
The Shitman Grunt is a cloaked variation of the Darkworld Grunt.
Darkworlder with a Flashlight[]
In the mission Androgen Assault there is a Darkworld Grunt wielding a Flashlight in ramparts surrounding the outside of the Cult of Order Police Department. Killing this grunt and exiting with his flashlight is the way to unlock the flashlight.
Despite having the AI, model, and animations of a gunman, this Darkworlder is totally harmless. Because this enemy overlooks the beginning area of the mission, he can cause anxiety by causing the stealth indicator to flash on the HUD.
Darkworld Heavy Weapons[]
The Darkworld Heavy Weapons is a Darkworlder grunt armed with a Security Systems Anti-Armor Device. This variant can be found in almost every main mission of Cruelty Squad.
Their rocket launcher makes them a chaotic and formidable opponent if not immediately dealt with. This chaos, however, can also be to the player's benefit as stray rockets are capable of harming other enemies or even the Darkworlder itself.
The Office Heavy Weapons is a reskin of this enemy, being identified in the Alpine Hospitality map as "entity_161_E_CreeperGrunt". Likewise, the high priest lookalike in Cruelty Squad Headquarters is also likely a reskinned Darkworld Heavy Weapons.
Notable Darkworlders[]
- Sir John Oliver II, the Primordial Engine of Suffering, The Punishment Encrypter of the Lower Plains is a Darkworlder with a green face and flesh-textured backside. He is the primary target of Darkworld
- The Darkworlder Farmer is questionably a Darkworlder, being entirely pitch black from the front, but brown-orange and leathery from behind. He is apparently a farming mogul.
