Advanced Orbital Instruments, commonly abbreviated AOI, is a Research and Development company in Cruelty Squad which specializes in space technology and rocketry. Making a profit off of proliferating nuclear weaponry, AOI focused a lot of capital to trips to outer space, especially planet Mercury. Feigned as a colonization effort by amphetamine-addicted Zoon programmers, the rockets were instead sacrifices for the "higher ups" of society.
AOI seems to be an illustrious company, as people across the game speak about travelling to Mercury, particularly members of the Seasteading Foundation and coders in Sin Space Engineering. The elite party members hear about Mercury, but refer to it as "passe", echoing the sacrificial nature of the missions, and revealing that the upper crust were mainly unaffected by the whole project.
According to workers in Sin Space Engineering, work is grueling, though the work culture is powerful enough that morale is high, and relatively organized.
Mercury Mission[]
- In Sin Space Engineering, the Protagonist is tasked with killing the CEO of AOI, Albrecht. This is because he is trying to increase the survival rates on a Mercury mission (currently at 20%), which angers certain higher ups as it is meant to be sacrificial.
- The Mercury Mission is likely popular, as many civilians have dialogue relating to it.
- Reserving a spot is likely very expensive, as normal civilians only dream to be on the ship but richer civilians in Idiot Party don't care too much.
- The programming language used on the ship is in Zoon, a Qurpit Programming language, as told by the Qurpit G-Tech Executive.
